Things You Never Knew About Kurt Cobain

Together with Krist Novoselic, Kurt Donald Cobain founded the renowned band Nirvana in 1985, which became a major force in the grunge movement and Seattle music scene. Nirvana has grown to be recognized as one of the most influential and significant rock bands of the contemporary age, despite only putting out three full-length studio albums over the course of their seven-year career. Almost every restaurant and bar still plays the songs “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Come as You Are,” and Cobain’s music will endure forever.

Cobain was a free-spirited individual who never tried to be anything other than who he truly was. He was passionate about writing music, but he also struggled with some personal problems, which would occasionally make him feel depressed.

Cobain died at the young age of 27, but the moments leading up to his death were tragic yet beautiful. Let’s look back on his life and all of its high and low moments.

Rough Beginnings

Kurt Cobain had a difficult childhood and was passed between his parents and several relatives since he had trouble in school and drug issues. When he was a young child, he would plead for help, but his parents didn’t always want to support his decisions, so he was forced to work odd jobs to support himself and often slept underneath bridges. His passion for music was his savior, and in 1985, he started his first band. He practiced with his bandmates in his aunt’s home studio.

On February 20, 1967, Kurt Cobain was born in the little town of Aberdeen, Washington, and no one could have predicted that he would grow up to become a rock god and be revered by most people on the planet.

His Relationship With Courtney Love

Kurt recalled how he was instantly smitten by Love’s presence when they first met in a nightclub in the early 1990s. They became friends through their shared love of music and even engaged in some playful flirtatious wrestling. Kurt was one of the cutest guys Courtney had ever met, and they shared lots of romantic moments before deciding to tie the knot on top of a cliff in Hawaii. The two were described as a great couple despite being complete opposites; Kurt once said that “we were like Evian water and battery acid.” The two even welcomed a joyful baby girl together.

A Sensitive Poet

Kurt was a softie on the inside, despite the gruff and brutal sounds of his rock songs. The fragile poet used his repressed feelings as fuel and expressed them in his rhymes and notes. He gave it his all when playing, breaking electric guitars on stage and even dangerously falling from tall amp stacks. When he was performing, he was unstoppable, but his true desire was to be understood. He battled addiction and depression, but his music was his main release, and he continued to write and record music up until his passing.

Cobain is remembered by the world in a similar way to how we remember Mickey Mouse. He serves as a sort of mascot. With his stringy blond hair, million-dollar smile, gruff voice, clever tunes, green cardigan sweater, and best-selling records, he was a success story in a world where he had been anything but. His most devoted fans will always know him as the appealing, bestubbled lead singer of the 1990s grunge rock band Nirvana.
